Tesla lists Supercharger locations in Malaysia [NSTTV]

HAVING announced the local pricing of the Model Y, Tesla has also updated its network map to include the location of Supercharger stations in Malaysia.

At present 10 general locations, all within Peninsula Malaysia, have been highlighted with the majority of them centred around the Klang Valley.

This includes two unnamed locations in Kuala Lumpur in addition to those in Bukit Bintang and Bukit Jalil. Selangor will see the chargers in Petaling Jaya and Dengkil.

The others are in Iskandar Puteri (Johor), Perai (Pulau Pinang), Ipoh, (Perak) and in Negeri Sembilan.

All of the chargers are currently shown to be offline with no indication when they'll go live.

Tesla's popular Superchargers adopts a 480-volt direct current (DC) fast-charging technology. Each stall connector can supply electrical power at a maximum of 72kW, 150kW, or 250kW, depending on the Supercharger generation.

Through the Tesla app, users can search for stall availability and monitor the charge status. Drivers can also plan out their charging route with a first-party proprietary trip planner app.

According to its website, the placement and function of the Superchargers are strategically planned to charge the car in 15 minutes (hence, the listed charge times) since it is assumed that cars rarely need to be charged above 80 per cent, allowing the EV to constantly be on the go instead of waiting in line.

In a Twitter posting, Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Aziz said in April that Tesla's entry will include the installation of at least 50 Superchargers within 3 years and at least 30 per cent of them must be usable by other brands as well.
