Tesla expands footprint to Penang; first deliveries on Thursday

GEORGE TOWN: Tesla Malaysia today expanded its footprint to Penang with the opening of a new Tesla service centre and workshop in Seberang Jaya.

Tesla regional director Isabel Fan said the newly launched service centre is also equipped with a state-of-the-art body and paint workshop.

"The facility will offer improved service support for Tesla owners in the region.

"It is designed to ensure that all service requirements and repairs are handled efficiently, providing convenience and faster service for Tesla customers in Penang," she said at the launch of the first V4 supercharger station at the basement car park of Gurney Plaza here.

Meanwhile, Fan said the first Tesla vehicle deliveries in Penang is scheduled for Sept 12 and Sept 13.

"Over the course of two days, 25 vehicles will be handed over to new Tesla owners, marking a significant milestone in the journey towards promoting sustainable mobility in the northern region," she added.

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow was present to launch the station, which included four cutting-edge 250kW V4 superchargers.

According to Chow, the station would not only meet local charging needs for Tesla owners but also support long-distance journeys across the northern region of Malaysia.

"The launch represents a big step toward making EV charging more accessible and convenient in Penang," he said.

Tesla has set up 11 supercharging stations with a total of 52 chargers and 13 destination charging stations with 69 chargers across Malaysia, to meet the charging needs of different regions as of today.

Tesla remains committed to expanding its comprehensive charging infrastructure in Malaysia to support the growing demand for Tesla charging solutions.
