KUALA LUMPUR: Telekom Malaysia Bhd and Perodua have teamed up to drive Malaysia's automotive transformation under the New Industrial Master Plan (NIMP) 2030.
TM said the partnership will drive advancements in electric vehicle (EV) development, digital innovation and sustainable growth.
TM, via its enterprise and government sector solutions arm TM One, aims to upgrade Perodua's infrastructure, provide fixed and wireless connectivity including software-defined wide area network solutions, private 5G for automotive applications and smart manufacturing technologies to improve production.
TM One will also leverage its cloud, cybersecurity, data analytics, and artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities to provide initiatives for smart manufacturing, graphics processing unit as a service, EV and autonomous driving technologies.
In addtion, TM and Perodua aim to expand their market reach and brand visibility through co-created products and innovative go to market strategies.
Both parties are committed to environmental sustainability, collaborating on clean energy solutions for EV charging infrastructure and waste reduction to align with Malaysia's environmental goals.
TM group chief executive officer Amar Huzaimi Md Deris said the partnership marks another milestone in its aspirations to become a digital powerhouse by pioneering industry growth through digitalisation and opening new opportunities.
"By delivering secure, high-speed connectivity and scalable digital solutions, this partnership will support Perodua's mission for greater innovation and growth, paving the way for a connected, sustainable future in the automotive industry," he said.
Perodua president and CEO Datuk Seri Zainal Abidin Ahmad said the partnership highlights the carmaker's goal of modernising the automotive industry, enhancing operations and setting the standard for digital connectivity in the industry.
"There are vast opportunities for Perodua and TM to revolutionise how we do things and set benchmarks on the quality, efficiency and delivery of our products and services.
"These opportunities will become clearer as we innovate further and address the issues and needs of our operations," he added.
