KUALA LUMPUR: The Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah, presented the 2014 Merdeka Award Grant For International Attachment to two experts in their fields here yesterday.
The two recipients, Royal College of Surgeons Ireland-Perdana University head of physiology Dr Kamalan Jeevaratnam, and Universiti Putra Malaysia senior lecturer Dr Lim Hong Ngee, will get a short-term grant designed to engage in collaborative projects or programmes at selected internationally-recognised host institutions.
Sultan Nazrin also announced the six recipients of the 2014 Merdeka Award for excellent work and achievements: cartoonist Datuk Mohammed Nor Khalid, or Lat, former Malaysian Wildlife and Nationals Parks Department director-general Mohd Khan Momin Khan, Malaysian Palm Oil Board director-general Datuk Dr Choo Yuen May, chemical engineering expert Prof Dr Abdul Latif Ahmad, researcher Prof Dr Ahmad Fauzi Ismail, and Earl of Cranbrook and biologist Datuk Dr Gathorne Gathorne-Hardy.
