PUTRAJAYA: Second Education Minister Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh has revealed that the authorities are zeroing in on several individuals who allegedly involved in the leak of the Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) English and Science papers.
He said the police and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) had gone down to ground and identified four hotspots.
Three-prong investigations are being made by the ministry, the police and MCMC to hunt down the traitors who had leaked the English and Science papers.
But, he declined to elaborate more on the individuals and the hotspots as the authorities were still investigating the matter.
"We want the full brunt of the law to be taken against these 'traitors' as their actions have affected 473,175 pupils, nearly one million parents and 51,438 invigilators ," he said.
The Primary Six pupils in the vernacular schools are exempted from re-sitting the English and it only involves those in the national schools.
He also said no other UPSR papers that the pupils had to re-sit except for the two English papers and science papers on Sept 30.
Idris also showed to the reporters some of security measures taken to secure the examination papers including two sealed transparent plastic bags and a dark green canvas bag.
He said the Malaysian Examinations Board had been following 800-page standard operating procedures, which had been revised last year and constant improvements were made to tighten its security.
