MALAYSIA’S aerospace blueprint for the next 15 years will be launched at the opening of Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition next year.
The Malaysian Industry-Government Group for High Technology (Might) yesterday presented a complete draft of the Malaysian Aerospace Industry Blueprint 2015-2030 to the International Trade and Industry Ministry and more than 150 key local stakeholders in the industry.
The blueprint has mapped out 39 points to enable local players to compete effectively in the global aerospace industry, Might said in a statement yesterday.
It covers areas related to design, development, manufacturing, construction, maintenance and disposal of aircraft, spacecraft and missiles/rockets.
It also includes regulatory, human capital and infrastructure aspects. However, the blueprint excludes “operation” of aircraft, missiles and rockets that is commercial aviation, general aviation and military aviation.
Might said the document has been developed with inputs from various stakeholders including the aerospace industry, regulatory agencies, education and training providers as well as related agencies government and research institutes through seven engagements running from April to August 2014.
Currently, the ministry is overseeing the aerospace industry development through its inclusion in the National Key Economic Area under business services.
