New initiatives must be drawn up to restore confidence on Umno

KUALA LUMPUR: Umno must be serious in its efforts to regain and retain its seats in the next general election.

This will ensure the party’s continued sustainability said Umno deputy president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

He said party members must also take drastic measures and draw up new initiatives to restore the confidence of the people to the party.

“We are very serious… it is do or be dead, said the Deputy Prime Minister.

“We must give our full commitment to this (effort). And in this short period of time, we must think of ways to correct the perception of the party, especially from the younger generation,” he said during his winding-up speech at the 68th Umno General Assembly here today.

Muhyiddin, who is also the party’s election director said the new initiatives would was needed to retain existing parliamentary seats and to overcome problems in every level of the party.

“All wings, divisions, and Umno members must come forward and work together in this to bring reform and improvement immediately,” he added.
