KUALA LUMPUR: About 20 massage centres in Kuchai Entrepreneur Park and Taman Jaya Kuchai were raided during the seventh Op Banteras Aktiviti Haram (Op Bah), recently.
Federal Territories Ministry secretary-general Datuk Seri Adnan Md Ikshan said the operation was focused mainly on massage outlets operating without a licence.
“We have identified 46 massage centres in this area,” he said.
“We are also taking action against hawkers who are obstructing traffic in the commercial area.
“Four masseuses were arrested for not having permits, while two tonto (touts) were arrested for trying to interfere with enforcement team who were carrying out their duties.”
Adnan said they found that 60 per cent of the business outlets did not resume operations after Op Bah.
“Eleven of the business operators have applied for a licence and five of them have been approved by City Hall.”
Adnan said the ministry planned to carry out more Op Bah by the end of the year. National Anti-Drugs Agency officers nabbed 30 drug addicts. Some of them were high at the time. Five illegals from China and Thailand were also detained by Immigration officers.
The raid, which was led by the Federal Territories Ministry, involved 450 officers from City Hall, Petaling Jaya Municipal Council and 14 government agencies, including police, Federal Territories Islamic Department, Tenaga Nasional Bhd and Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor.
There were also representatives of non-government organisations such as Persatuan Pengguna Islam Malaysia, Majlis Belia Wilayah Persekutuan, and UITM Sports and Recreational Faculty Association. By Seri Nor Nadiah Koris
