KL shares open lower

KUALA LUMPUR: Shares on Bursa Malaysia opened lower on profit-taking today following last week’s strong rebound, dealers said.

At 9.28am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was down 8.34 points to 1,756.1 after opening 6.79 points lower at 1,757.65.

The FBM Emas Index fell 66.14 points to 12,036.07, FBMT100 Index eased 65.96 points to 11,781.81, FBM Ace shed 37.41 points to 5,641.15, FBM Emas Syariah Index lost 73.59 points to 12,455.42 and the FBM 70 contracted up 111.851 points to 13,046.26.

Sector-wise, the Finance Index eased 40.8 points to 15,675.22, the Plantation Index erased 48.31 points to 7,782.48 and the Industrial Index slipped 44.4 points to 3,134.58.Losers led gainers 200 to 84 while 143 counters were unchanged, 1,315 untraded and 15 others suspended.

Turnover stood at 180.6 million shares worth RM152.5 million.

Among heavyweights, Maybank added two sen to RM9.18 while TNB eased 10 sen to RM13.80 and Public Bank shed 16 sen to RM18.30.

Axiata and Sime Darby were flat at RM7 and RM9.31.

Of the actives, AirAsia dropped 25 sen to RM2.69, AirAsia X declined five sen to RM63.5 and Tune Ins fell 17 sen to RM1.59.

Focus Dynamics and Technodex were flat at RM1.59 and 21 sen. – Bernama
