KUALA LUMPUR: Images of a massive crocodile, spanning an entire lane, lying overturned after being struck on a highway along Jalan Penanjong in Tutong, Brunei, have gone viral.
The photos showed the carcass of the crocodile sprawled across the road after reportedly being hit by a mini SUV. The car's tyre was also seen dislodged from its position.
Netizens were both amused and puzzled by the peculiar incident, with some questioning how the driver failed to notice the crocodile.
One user, Bille Day, speculated that the car must have been travelling at high speed for the driver to hit the reptile.
"How could a person driving a car hit a crocodile? He must have been speeding and couldn't control the vehicle… surely you'd see a crocodile if you're paying attention…" he said.
Another user, Azizan Aziz, jokingly referred to the crocodile as a 'buaya darat'. Buaya darat is a Malay term that literally translates to "land crocodile" but is used to describe a flirtatious or unfaithful person.
Meanwhile, user Almas Dqiara expressed sympathy for the driver, wishing them strength in facing this ordeal.
"May the car owner stay strong in enduring this trial and tribulation. Amin. It's already tough with school and festive preparations coming up," she said.
