SHAH ALAM: Police are willing to send its Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) team to identify victims of the Indonesia AirAsia Flight QZ8501 crash.
Inspector General of Police, Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said he is confident the DVI team’s experience and expertise can help the Indonesian authorities.
“PDRM are offering the DVI team to Indonesian authorities because of the Asean spirit of cooperation.
“Our team have experience in collecting and identifying remains having been involved in the Aceh tsunami and MH17 which was shot down in Ukraine in July,” he said after handing over donation for flood victims at Subang Air Base, today.
Meanwhile Khalid said police have arrested an individual suspected of spreading false information related to the floods via the social media.
“The individual was arrested two days ago in Kuala Lumpur. I cannot reveal more details.
“Individuals who spread false news about the floods, including to incite the people to be angry with the government, will be arrested,” he added.--BERNAMA
