Burnt body found was a Datuk Seri

IPOH: The charred remains that were found in Lumut on Friday have been confirmed to be a Bukit Mertajam businessman with a Datuk Seri title.

A source told the New Straits Times that pathologist confirmed the victim's identity based on his dental records.

The dental post mortem was conducted on the victim today due to the highly decomposition state of the remains.

"But to double confirm the identity, we will need to wait for a DNA report," he said.

Perak deputy police chief Datuk A. Paramasivam when contacted said Perak would investigate the matter under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

"Investigation was initiated after the body was found on Friday," he added.

It was reported that the victim, who was reported missing since Wednesday, was last seen bundled into a car after leaving a foot reflexology centre in Bukit Mertajam.

Police investigations had so far revealed the suspects had come in separate cars bearing fake registration number and last seen exiting the North South Expressway at the Changkat Jering toll.

The remains were later found some 200m from the main road to the Swiss Garden Resort near Lumut.

The victim was also said to be a former Restricted Residence Act detainee.
