GEORGE TOWN: The Permatang Pauh by-election could possibly be a three-way one, with long forgotten Parti Rakyat Malaysia (PRM) indicating it would contest.
PRM secretary-general Koh Swe Yong said it would field a businessman in his 50s as a candidate.
"You will get to see him tomorrow at the nomination centre. He is a long time member, I do not want to spoil the surprise," he said when contacted by the New Straits Times today.
In 2003, PRM took part in a merger with the then Parti Keadilan Nasional to form Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR).
Some of PRM members chose to remain with the party and in 2005, it appointed an executive committee.
The Permatang Pauh polls will see Barisan Nasional's Suhaimi Sabudin, 44, contesting in the PKR stronghold.
PKR is scheduled to announce their candidate tonight.
Nomination day for the by-election will be held tomorrow at IKBN Bukit Mertajam.
