KATHMANDU: Malaysian born Hollywood actress, Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh Friday announced she will donate 100,000 Euros to be spent for the relief and rehabilitation of victims of recent earthquakes in Nepal.
She made the donation through the Emergency Action Fund of Nepal Automobile Sports Association (Nasa), said NASA in a press statement here.
Yeoh accompanied by her fiancé, Jean Todd, who is also the Federation of International Automobile (FIA) president, arrived here Friday to attend the programme of Nasa, a franchise of FIA in Nepal.
This is her second visit to Nepal as she had earlier returned to France cutting short her Nepal visit due to the massive earthquake here, said the statement.
Yeoh visited Nepal on April 23 to participate in the Asian Regional Sports Congress organised by FIA.
She had also pledged to do her best to help in the rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts in Nepal, it said.
Yeoh and Todt also met with United Nations secretary general Ban Ki-moon after the earthquake and requested for support to Nepal earthquake victims.
Nepal was hit by a massive earthquake measuring 7.9 in the Richter scale on April 25 and its powerful aftershock on May 12.
More than 8,500 people have been killed, over 15,000 people injured and property worth billions of dollars has been destroyed by the earthquake. -- Bernama
