Rock queen Ella is determined to get pregnant

KUALA LUMPUR: Even at 48, rock queen Ella still harbours hope to one day hear the pitter-patter of little feet.

Realising that conceiving may be difficult and even dangerous at her age, she is still determined and is exhausting all avenues to make her dream of having her own child come true.

For a start, Ella, who tied the knot to pilot Azhar Ghazali three years ago, is currently adding Sunnah foods (natural ingredients prescribed as normative based on the teachings of Prophet Muhammad and the Quran) into her diet.

“I’ve started including dates, honey and milk as part of my diet to help cleanse my internal system,” she said, adding that by doing so, the possibilities of falling pregnant would be higher.

Besides following doctor’s orders to eat well and stay healthy, Ella has also undergone fertility treatments to help her conceive.

“I can’t just wait for a miracle to happen without putting any effort. I have to do something and I am working towards it,” said the singer in an interview at Saloma Bistro here, yesterday.

“I love kids, and I really want my own. Please have me in your prayers,” said Ella, with a smile.

Ella, who has 28 albums under her belt, is currently busy preparing for the release of her new record entitled Istimewah.

“Sixty per cent of the album is completed. And we are still in the midst of choosing the right songs for this album,” she said.

She will be flying out to London tomorrow to perform at a private event, as well as to film the music video for Istimewah, which is also the title track of the album.

At the same time, Ella will also be in London to film a travelogue, a special project with a local telco company. However, details are still sketchy.

“Back in 1994, I made an album in the US called Ella USA. Perhaps this travelogue will be similar to that. We’ll see,” she said.

Upon returning from London, Ella will be extremely busy as she will be helping out her sister-manager Jojie who is tying the knot on June 5.
