KUALA LUMPUR: National shuttler Leong Jun Hao pulled off another surprise at the Kumamoto Masters by upstaging Japan's world No. 11 Koki Watanabe 21-10, 16-21, 21-13 in the second round today.
World No. 31 Jun Hao had stunned 17th ranked Lakshya Sen of India yesterday.
The victory is a major boost for the 25-year-old Jun Hao who had suffered first-round exits in his previous three tournaments: at the China Open, Arctic Open and Denmark Open.
Jun Hao will take on Japan's second seed Kodai Naraoka or Toma Junior Popov of France in the last eight.
