PM: Audit report on 1MDB will reveal the truth

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak today expressed confidence that the National Audit Department's report on 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) will clear the air on allegations and accusations made against him.

Najib, who is also Finance Minister, said the people should wait for Auditor-General Tan Sri Ambrin Buang to complete the full report on 1MDB to ascertain the truth behind the issue.

Addressing the public after breaking fast at the Nur Ramadan Programme at Masjid Salahuddin Al-Ayyubi in Taman Melati here, today, Najib also maintained his earlier stand that he has never taken what belongs to the people.

“Is it true that billions of Ringgit went missing as claimed by some? We will wait for the report from the Auditor-General and we will find out the truth (then).

"I'm not going to say anything on it, let him (Ambrin) make any announcements.

"As the prime minister, I will not take what belongs to the people," Najib said, to thunderous applause.

The prime minister later joined the congregation for Isyak and Terawih prayers.
