Tony Pua barred from leaving the country

KUALA LUMPUR: Opposition leader DAP's Tony Pua was barred from flying to Yogyakarta, Indonesia for a work trip today.

The Petaling Jaya Utara MP had already checked in to go onboard the 3.15pm flight before he was told by a senior immigration officer that he has been barred from leaving the country.

" I was told it is instructions from above. I have no clue why I have been barred. I can only speculate that it is because of my criticisms against 1MBD. As for the actual reason, you have to ask the head of immigration or Home Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi," said Pua during a press conference at DAP headquarters in Jalan Yew today.

Pua said he will be speaking to his lawyer, Gobind Singh Deo, and look into filing a suit against the government for preventing him from leaving the country.
