KUALA LUMPUR: Tomorrow's Standard Chartered KL Marathon 2015 has been cancelled due to the worsening haze, which has reached unhealthy levels today.
In a statement released by the organisers, the event was called off due to the deteriorating air quality and on the advice from the medical team, the Malaysian Athletics Federation (MAF) and the National Sports Institute (NSI).
The decision to cancel was supported by co-organisers, Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) as well as title sponsors, Standard Chartered Bank Malaysia.
Registered participants can still proceed to Dataran Merdeka to collect their race entitlements from 6.00am to noon tomorrow.
Those who are unable to collect their entitlements during this time, can wait till an alternative date is announced through the Standard Chartered KL Marathon social media channels.
Despite the cancellation, route closures and support infrastructure will remain in place along these roads — Jalan Raja Laut, Jalan Sultan Ismail, Jalan Raja Chulan, Jalan P.Ramlee, Jalan Ampang, Jalan Kuching, Jalan Parlimen, Jalan Cenderawasih, Jalan Lembah and Jalan Sultan Hishamuddin — from 6.00am-9.00am.
