KUALA LUMPUR: Come Oct 15, several major highways will see an increase in toll prices, some as high as 100 per cent.
The highways involved include the Ampang Kuala Lumpur Elevated Highway (Akleh); Guthrie Corridor Expressway (GCE); Lebuhraya Kemuning Shah Alam (LKSA); Maju Expressway (MEX); Kuala Lumpur - Karak Expressway (KLK); Lebuhraya Kajang Seremban (Lekas); New Pantai Expressway (NPE); Lebuhraya Sungai Besi (Besraya); and the KL-Kuala Selangor Expressway (Latar).
Those using the Akleh can expect an increase of RM1 for Class 1 and 4 vehicles (RM1.50 to RM2.50; and 80 sen to RM1.80, respectively).
Class 2 vehicles at the Akleh will see a RM4 increase (from RM3 to RM7); an increase from RM4.50 to RM10.50 for Class 3, while Class 5 vehicles will retain their RM1.80 rate.
Those plying the Duta-Ulu Kelang Expressway (DUKE) can expect an increase of between 30 sen and RM1.
SMART tunnel users will soon have to pay RM3 per vehicle, marking a RM1 increase.
As for the KLK, users will have to pay RM6 at the Gombak toll plaza instead of RM5, and RM3.50 instead of RM3 at the Bentong plaza.
Latar highway users will see new rates of RM2.50 at the Templer, Kuang Barat, Kuang Timur and Ijok toll plazas, while those at the Kundang Timur and Kundang Barat plazas will have to pay RM1.30.
For the MEX highway, toll rates for cars will increase to RM2 at the Salak South plaza, and RM3.50 at the Putrajaya toll plaza.
However, North-South Expressway (PLUS) users can heave a sigh of relief as there will not be any price increase at any of its eight highways nationwide.
