ROME: All Asean countries should have a standardised security screening system for people who enter their respective entry points.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the standardised system should use biometrics such as fingerprints and facial recognition.
"Asean countries should have its own template in border security screening with the use of uniformed documents. This should be done with the use of Advanced Passenger Screening System (APSS), the use of biometrics for fingerprint and facial recognition for all who enter Asean countries," said Zahid at a press conference at the end of his three-day working visit to Rome, Italy.
Zahid said the Cabinet had tasked him to look into the possibility of setting up a green lane for citizens from Asean countries when they enter Malaysia by air.
