KUALA LUMPUR: Police have yet to receive a complete notification form from the organisers of the 'Bantah TPPA' demonstration, scheduled to be held on Saturday.
Under Section 9(1) of the Peaceful Assembly Act 2013, organisers are required to inform the police of the gathering.
Dang Wangi police chief Assistant Commissioner Zainol Samah the organisers had previously submitted a notification form last Tuesday; however the form was incomplete.
“The organisers failed to attach letters of permission from the venue owners in the form.
“We have informed the organisers to complete their form and send it to us,” he said, adding that police had met up with the organisers to discuss the upcoming demonstration.
Zainol said he had suggested that the organisers to hold the rally at Padang Merbok, if they could secure permission from the venue owner.
However, the organisers had refused to do so.
“The organisers said if the demonstration was held at Padang Merbok, it would not reach their target... They are expecting around 20,000 people to attend,” he said.
The rally participants are expected to converge at several meeting points including Masjid Negara, Masjid Jamek, Jalan Raja Laut and Maju Junction before heading towards Dataran Merdeka.
About 300 non-governmental organisations are expected to join the rally.
