KOTA KINABALU: Police arrested four men and seized a pistol along with 39 bullets in Telipok near here recently.
Kota Kinabalu City police chief, ACP M. Chandra, said when his men were making the rounds around Telipok at about 12.50am on Thursday, they came across a car which refused to stop when asked to do so.
“Instead, the driver sped off towards Telipok settlement scheme and was given a chase by the policemen who later found it abandoned on the roadside in the settlement.
“Upon inspection, a Colt 45 pistol and 39 bullets were found in the car,” he told reporters here today.
He said further investigation and two-day operation had led to the arrest of four men, aged between 16 and 25, and efforts were being done to track down another suspect, believed to be the owner of the pistol and bullets.
In another development, Chandra said a 57-year-old man was arrested for posing as a policeman and having in his possession police equipment, believed to be used to extort money from the public, especially foreigners.
The man was detained by a patrol police team at about 2.15pm on Wednesday while he was wearing a police T-shirt and travelling in a vehicle with a police sticker.
“Several other police items were also found in the suspect’s car including a pair of handcuffs, a police hat and three police T-shirts,” he said. --BERNAMA
