GEORGE TOWN: Police seized an assortment of pistols and bullets following the arrest of four men in Juru and Sungai Bakap on Saturday.
State police chief Datuk Hamzah Ahmad said his officers first arrested a man in Juru that day, which led them to the arrest of three others believed to be involved in a brawl on June 13.
Initial investigation and checks on the house of one of the suspects in Sungai Bakap, he said, led to the discovery of the firearms.
"Among the items seized included one black WE Tactical air pistol with one empty shell, one brown WE Tactical air pistol with one empty shell, one BBLoader Made in China shell, one bottle labeled Green Gas and one packet of white plastic ball bearings.
"Guided by the suspect, police then raided an office in Kampung Baru Valdor, Sungai Bakap.
"There, they seized one black Glock pistol made in Austria, Glock pistol shells labeled Austria, bullets labeled WCC 17, three bullets labeled S&B Auto 45 and bullets labeled PMC Auto 45," he said.
Hamzah said the arrest of the three suspects, aged between 19 and 24, was made under Section 326 of the Penal Code for causing hurt.
He said another suspect, a 27-year-old, is also being investigated under Section 326 of the Penal Code, Section 8 of the Firearms Act 1971 (Heavier Penalty), and Section 36 of the Arms Act 1960.
"Further checks on the suspects revealed one of them had a previous record related to drug offences, while the others have no criminal records.
"All suspects are remanded for seven days until Aug 1 under Section 326 of the Penal Code," he said.
