Two found dead in TNB substation may have tried to commit theft

KEMAMAN: Police have identified the two decomposed bodies discovered in a TNB Perwaja Steel substation near Teluk Kalong, today.

Both bodies have been identified as locals aged 42, from Kampung Pondok Limau, Ibok, and a 46-year-old from Kampung Payoh here.

District police chief Superintendent Mohd Said Ibrahim said initial investigation revealed that both men had trespassed into the area. He did not rule out the possibility of them having entered the area to commit theft.

"Further investigation also found that their deaths were not due to an electrical surge," he said, adding that the bodies were discovered after they had been in the substation for more than three days.

He said police did not find any criminal element in the case and have classified it as sudden death until the post mortem report is obtained.

Mohd Said the remains have been sent to the Kemaman Hospital for post mortem.

Earlier today, the state Fire and Rescue Department said they received word on the discovery of the bodies at 10.22pm last night.

The first body was brought out from the scene by rescuers around 12.25am, while the second body was retrieved at 1.42am today.
