MALACCA: The first sitting of the Malacca Legislative Assembly took a twist when former state DAP chief and Duyong assemblyman, Goh Leong San was declared an independent.
This came following the one-year suspension of Goh and Kota Melaka MP Sim Tong Him on Feb 6, reportedly for disparaging the party.
State assembly Speaker Datuk Othman Muhamad said he received a letter from DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng that Khoo Poay Tiong (DAP-Ayer Keroh) has been appointed as opposition leader and Tey Kok Kiew (DAP-Banda Hilir) as the opposition chief whip.
