Fuel prices to go up at midnight

KUALA LUMPUR: After enjoying reductions in the fuel price since the beginning of the year, Malaysians will now have to pay more at the pump.

Come midnight, RON95 will cost RM1.70 per litre (10 sen higher from the current price) while RON97 will cost RM2.05 (10 sen higher).

The price of diesel will also be raised to RM1.55 (20 sen up) per litre while Euro 5 diesel will cost RM1.65 (20 sen up) per litre.

In March, RON95 petrol retailed at RM1.60 per litre; RON97 at RM1.95 per litre; regular diesel at RM1.35 per litre, while Euro 5 diesel sold at RM1.45 per litre.

The change in fuel prices is a result of the continuous rise in crude oil prices.

The price of Brent Crude oil has been on the uptrend in March, starting at US$36.81 at the beginning of the month and gradually building up to US$39.72 as of today.

The monthly changes in fuel prices began from Dec 1 in 2014, when the Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry had imposed a managed float system.
