KUALA LUMPUR: France-based Indonesian singer Anggun doesn't look a day older than when she first made international rounds with her hit Snow On The Sahara in 1997.
"I decided not to grow," the 41-year-old joked, touching her hair fondly, during an interview at Doubletree Hilton Hotel here today.
She revealed that she doesn't have a beauty secret.
"I don't believe in miracle creams. I think you need to feed yourself -- body, mind and soul -- with all things that are beautiful.
"I think what you do with your life and how you treat people contribute to how you are as a person and also how you look.
"I still do need makeup," she added sheepishly, "but it's important to have a beautiful aura. Make up can only cover so much."
Born Anggun Cipta Sasmi, she said she doesn't have time to exercise but loves to eat.
"Just this morning, I had nasi lemak! This is one of the things that I love to do. When I go to foreign countries, I love to eat their local food."
Anggun is in town for the Datuk Siti Nurhaliza & Friends Concert, taking place tonight at Stadium Negara, where she will also be performing.
"I know that Malaysia has many great artistes. I didn't know that the new generation of singers is this great!"
She is a fan of homegrown singer-songwriter Yuna, whom she had met in Los Angeles last month.
"Seeing her as this modern Muslim girl, living abroad and being exactly who she is -- she looked very powerful to me."
Since her international breakthrough, Anggun has released five English albums and six French albums, as well as a soundtrack album to the Danish film Open Hearts (2002).
