PETALING JAYA: Popular TV host AC Mizal has interviewed many artistes on his talk show, but none as equally funny and challenging as music maestro Datuk M. Nasir.
The Singapore-born musician decided to reveal his romantic side to AC - talking about his "love story", how he wooed his actress wife Datin Marlia Musa two decades ago.
"I asked Sifu, 'were you the one who first tackled her or vice-versa?' to which he promptly replied 'I pursued her'. I then asked how - 'serenading her? taking her out ?' to which he grinned and quipped 'yes, all that'," said AC when met at the launch of his talkshow Sembang Teh Tarik Kaw here today. The show will air on Astro Warna next month.
Known to be reserved and serious, Datuk M. Nasir is seldom seen smiling. It thus came as a surprise for the zany host who discovered that Nasir could "tickle" audiences, and himself, as they casually chatted on an episode of his talk show.
"Nasir is serious at work, but he loves a good laugh, and showed me that on the show," said AC.
Describing more of the episode featuring Nasir, AC said the Sifu was all smiles and did not feel uncomfortable on the set.
"Nasir answered my questions with his usual short sentences, when I asked him about school and sports, he replied 'yes, I did football and hockey, got certificates for them ...' as the crowd roared with laughter.
"For most of our conversation, he flashed his suave grin at the camera, occasionally laughed with me, and listened attentively."
AC said Nasir also sportingly took up his challenge to sing his pop group 4U2C's hit tune Fiona.
Nasir is one of 13 celebrity guests to be featured on the 13-episode Sembang Teh Tarik Kaw, which is marking its fourth season.
The hour-long programme at 10pm on Fridays, begins on May 6. It has seven segments, among which will see AC talk about cyber trends, reveals the latest prank, chats with the guest and plays guessing games and sings a duet.
