KUALA PILAH: A 16-month-old toddler was found drowned in a pail at a house in Kampung Bukit Gombang, Batu Kikir, near here, on Monday night.
The incident was discovered by the toddler's mother about 10.40pm, after realising that the boy, Muhammad Fahil Finaz Nor Azuan, was not with his father and three-year-old sister.
Fahil's father, Nor Azuan Azali, 33, said his wife thought that their son was with her in their room but sensed something wrong as she did not hear his voice.
“We later found him with his head and half his body submerged inside a water-filled bucket under the kitchen sink.
“My wife and I tried to resuscitate him but failed. We then rushed him to the Tuanku Ampuan Najihah Hospital for treatment," he said.
However, doctors confirmed that their youngest child had died.
The body was brought to the forensic unit for post-mortem.
Meanwhile, Jempol district police chief Superintendent Noorzainy Mohd Noor said police have classified the case as sudden death.
