Sungai Lepar drowning victim found

PEKAN: The body of a man who drowned while casting his fishing net in Sungai Lepar near Kampung Batu 8 here yesterday, was found today.

The remains of Muhamad Saifol Azmi Adiauddin, 33, was found about three metres deep in the river, about five metres from where he was last seen at about 10.20am.

Pahang Fire and Rescue Department public relations officer Zulfadli Zakaria said divers from the Pekan fire station Water Rescue Team found Saifol Azmi's remains.

"Firemen from the Peramu fire station along with divers conducted a surface search about two kilometres from the spot the victim was last seen. The victim's body was found underwater about five metres from the location he was reported missing," he said, adding the body was handed to police.

Yesterday, Saifol Azmi along with two friends were casting their fishing net in Sungai Lepar about 1.20pm when he was believed to have drowned after stepping into the deep section of the river.
