Five including four Chinese tourists injured in Sabah bus accident

PAPAR: Five people, including four Chinese tourists, were injured after the bus they were travelling in skidded into a drain near Kampung Gahana, Jalan Papar Lama, here.

In the 2.20pm incident, firefighters had to pull out a 59-year-old Chinese woman, who was trapped in the vehicle.

Three other tourists and the bus driver sustained minor injuries. All victims were taken to the hospital for treatment.

District fire and rescue chief Dunstan Peter said the bus was carrying 11 people, including nine Chinese tourists and a tour guide.

“The driver lost control of the vehicle, which skidded and landed inside a drain.

“We received a distress call at 2.26pm and arrived shortly to assist the passengers,” he said, adding the rescue operation proceeded smoothly. Six other passengers escaped unharmed.
