DPM's son-in-law death: Cops take statements from dental clinic staff

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have taken statements from several individuals to facilitate investigations into the death of Datuk Syed Alman Zain Syed Alwi, son-in-law of Deputy Prime Minister, who died while receiving treatment at a dental clinic in Bangsar here, Wednesday.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Amar Singh Ishar Singh said the police have recorded statements from the clinic staff and other individuals as well.

“The cause of death has not yet been determined and police are still in the process of obatining autopsy report from the hospital,” he said when contacted by Bernama here, today.

Amar Singh said the case was being investigated under Section 304 of the Penal Code for causing death.

Syed Alman Zain, 44, was the husband of Ahmad Zahid’s eldest daughter, Datuk Nurulhidayah, 37.

He had gone to the clinic about 6pm for treatment, together with a friend, before he was reported to have fallen unconscious.

According to a family member, he was then rushed to the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) where he was confirmed dead. --BERNAMA
