KUALA LUMPUR: Italy has awarded Naza World Group of Companies (Naza) group executive chairman Datuk Wira SM Faisal SM Nasimuddin the title of “Grande Ufficiale” (Grand Officer).
The award was presented by Ambassador of Italy to Malaysia Mario Sammartino during the recent Italian National day celebration dinner in Kuala Lumpur.
“I understand the Order of the Star honours individuals who have distinguished themselves in the promotion of friendly relations with Italy.
“For that, I would like to thank His Excellency Mario Sammartino and the Italian government for honouring me with this award,” said Faisal in a statement.
Naza imports high-end, luxury Italian vehicles and lifestyle products including renowned brands such as Ferrari, Maserati, Ducati, Aprilia and Vespa.
Faisal also has interests in Italian fashion, and introduced the tailored brand Spezzato in Malaysia.
He said he dedicated the award to his late father Tan Sri SM Nasimuddin and his staff.
The Grande Ufficiale dell’Ordine della Stella d’Italia (OSI) is the highest honour in Italy which recognises civilian and military expatriates or foreigners for their contributions to the preservation and promotion of national prestige abroad as well as for promoting friendly relations and cooperation between other countries and Italy.
