PUTRAJAYA: Felda must pool its resources to become an economic and political powerhouse, urged Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
He said this would open up greater opportunities and with it, success for the second and third generations of Felda settlers.
"Felda settlers should utilise all of their strengths and assets such as human resources and networking to achieve greater success.
"This will open up vast opportunities for the second and third generation of Felda settlers," he said at a Felda Community gathering here today.
The two-pronged approach requires the Felda Community to work closely with each other, either inside or outside the settlements, the prime minister said.
Najib said that if Felda can do this, more people from the second and third generations would benefit from such efforts.
The prime minister said many settlers have achieved success in various fields, and as professionals.
Najib also urged Felda to secure social mobility in the country, apart from providing land and eradicating poverty.
"This social mobility has also enabled 50,000 settlers to move into the Klang Valley (to prosper) and the number could be higher," he said.
