IPOH: Members of the public will have an opportunity to get comfy on Malaysia’s longest sofa when it goes on display at the Aeon Klebang shopping complex here from today to Sunday.
Measuring 52.5 metres long, the sofa entered the Malaysia Book of Records recently as the longest sofa in the country.
The sofa was made of denim pieces, which were contributed by more than 1,000 participants who joined the programme.
Malaysia Creative Sewing Art Association (PSJK) coordinator Asmassura Tokiman said 40 inmates at the Seberang Perai prison also helped create the sofa.
“Among those who joined the initiative included civil servants, NGO members, as well as schoolchildren.
“They also donated their pre-loved jeans to make the longest sofa, which can seat up to 140 adults,” she said.
Asmassura said it took them six months to create the sofa, which would be displayed at various locations nationwide.
She said the objective of the programme was to create more opportunities for the public to donate items, including used ones.
Themed "Be Part of the Breakthrough and Make Someone's Dreams Come True", the feat was jointly-organisedby Epal Handicraft Training Centre.
