Cantona greeted by adoring KL fans, calls Malaysia his 'second home'

KUALA LUMPUR: Eric Cantona regards his goal for Manchester United against Liverpool in the 1996 FA Cup final as the greatest moment of his career.

The Frenchman does not remember a single poor game against Liverpool when he was playing for the Red Devils, as he believes his rivals feared him.

"You should ask Liverpool fans whether I ever had a poor game against their team. United always won," said Cantona, who is ambassador of communications service provider YES, at Lot 10 here today.

"The goal in the FA Cup final against Liverpool is my greatest ever. I volleyed home the winning goal."

A huge number of fans waited for Cantona, known as 'King Eric', for several hours for the meet-and-greet session, and the retired footballer graciously answered questions thrown at him and posed for photos.

"The 1992-93 season was special, as United finished as league champions for the first time in 26 years. And the following season, we won it with many young players in the team," said Cantona during his fifth visit to Malaysia.

The football legend, who also had meet-and-greet sessions in Penang, Kota Baru and Kuantan, said he loves Malaysian food.

"I like karipap, kerepok lekor and satay, and a host of local food here. I also like the weather, though it is humid.

"I consider Malaysia my second home," Cantona added.
