SHAH ALAM: A University Teknologi MARA (UiTM) lecturer was found dead in his office at the Faculty of Applied Sciences early today.
The body of Associate Professor Dr Zaini Hamzah was discovered by the university’s auxiliary police personnel who had gone to the room at 2.30am.
The university’s reserve police operations room had earlier received information that the lecturer had failed to return to his home in Bandar Baru Bangi.
Shah Alam district police chief Assistant Commissioner Shafien Mamat said the personnel had to enter the room through the ceiling as the room was locked.
“Zaini was found lying on the floor and unconscious. The personnel then contacted the Shah Alam district police headquarters and the hospital,” said Shafien.
Initial investigations revealed that the lecturer has been dead for four hours, possibly due to a heart attack. However, the police said investigations are still ongoing.
Shafien added the body of the deceased was sent to Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital in Klang and has been claimed by family members.
