Police on the hunt for Red Shirt supporters in an attack on two men in Bersih T-shirts

KUALA LUMPUR: Police will track down the Red Shirt supporters who allegedly threw eggs and kicked two men wearing Bersih T-shirts in Sabak Bernam today.

District police chief Superintendent Nor Azmi Isa said police would conduct investigation on the incident and track down the people involved.

"We will summon and record statement from witnesses to identify the men who were involved in the incident," he said when contacted.

A video, which went viral on social media, shows two motorcyclists wearing Bersih T-shirts being pelted with eggs by Red Shirt supporters as they rode onto a street filled with Red Shirt supporters.

It was learnt the men approached the Red Shirt supporters after they were pelted with eggs from across the street.

However, upon approaching the Red Shirts, one man retreated, but another, whose motorcycle had crashed, stood his ground and was pelted with more eggs. Then, a Red Shirt supporter was seen giving him a flying kick, which sent the man sprawling to the ground.

Three men were detained for profiling before being released later today.

The two Bersih supporters were a part of Bersih’s seven-week road show aimed at promoting the upcoming Bersih 5 rally calling for the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak to resign.
