PRAI: Several areas in Penang were again inundated in floodwaters following the high-tide phenomenon which lashed the state just after midnight.
Among the affected areas, which saw floodwaters reaching up to 0.5m, was Kampung Manis here.
Around 25 houses involving 150 people were affected.
Other affected areas were Kampung Nelayan Sungai Batu and Kampung Nelayan Gertak Sanggul in Teluk Kumbar on the island.
However, the situation in both villages appeared to be under control.
Following the high-tide phenomenon, which has lashed the state for the second consecutive day, rescue agencies have been put on high alert.
Even fishermen in Teluk Bahang have stopped going out to sea for the past two days due to the choppy seas and unpredictable weather.
Boatmen had also refused to take passengers to the famous Pantai Kerachut as its route is in the open sea and prone to risks.
