New Marina Point project to spur tourism development in Klebang, Malacca

MALACCA: The new 472-unit apartment and commercial development at Marina Point will bring economic and tourism development towards the Klebang seafront area from the now-congested city centre.

The ambitious RM190 million project, undertaken by developer Sanichi Technology Bhd (STB), is expected to be completed by 2019 and on Saturday received an added boost with badminton star Datuk Lee Chong Wei endorsing it during its launch.

Datuk Seri Dr Pang Chow Huat, the managing director of Sanichi Technology Berhad said the Marina Point project is the first of its kind in the state that provides freehold investment with an attached shopping mall.

He said the 24-storey building will feature 352 units of apartments, 120 retail lots, three floors of commercial outlets, three floors of parking, a swimming pool and other facilities.

"We chose this state because of its status as a tourism state and in anticipation of the rapid development that is being conducted in the surrounding areas," said Dr Pang.

"As of the end of last year, 50 percent of Marina Point's apartment units have been sold and we are confident of all units being sold before completion."

He was speaking at the launch of the project in Batang Tiga, Klebang on Saturday.

Marina Point apartments units are on sale at between RM350,000 and RM2 million, with Dr Pang adding that entertainment outlets are being lined up to serve the people in the area.

At the launch, three-time Olympic silver medallist Datuk Lee Chong Wei was also handed the keys to his apartment at Marina Point.

Dr Pang said this was in recognition of the world number one's contributions to the sport of badminton throughout his glittering career.
