KUALA LUMPUR: Filing police reports may soon be as easy as updating one's status on social media.
Deputy Home Minister Datuk Nur Jazlan told Parliament today that a system will be developed to enable people to submit their report without having to go to the police station.
"They can just file a police report via their mobile phone or their computers from home," he said during the question-and-answer session.
Nur Jazlan said police and the Attorney-General's Chambers are now in discussion to iron out legal issues over the system.
One of the problems, he said, was verifying the identity of the complainant.
"On paper, complainant can just sign the report at the station. For an online report, we need to ensure that a digital signature is legally accepted," he said.
