Construction of RM9bil Gemas-Johor double tracking project to start next month: Johor MB

KLUANG: Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Khaled Nordin said the RM9 billion Gemas-Johor Baru electrified double tracking rail project, set to begin construction next month, will boost mobility and connectivity among Johor people.

"The double tracking project between Gemas and Johor Baru is an infrastructure project needed to cope with the rapid development in the state. The state government us thankful to the federal government for its initiative to expand the transport infrastructure.

"This project will help increase mobility and connectivity among the people of Johor, and it will benefit the state's economic development and become attractive to investors," said Khaled after handing over ownership grants to residents of Kampung Setia, Kluang during his visit to the district today.

The 167km double tracking project was expected to be completed by the end of 2020.

On another note, Khaled said the new RM30 million Bandar Kluang Middle Ring Road project would help resolve traffic congestion issues in the town.

The Middle Ring Road will divert traffic out of Jalan Kota Tinggi, Jalan Mengkibol, Taman Muhibbah, Taman Intan, Taman Delima and other areas for motorists heading to and coming from Ayer Hitam.
