Red Shirts leader Jamal Yunos arrested, bringing total to 13

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Jamal Yunos, leader of the Red Shirts faction, was arrested late last night.

This was confirmed by Red Shirts member Romy Irwan Shah, who said the Sungai Besar Umno division chief was arrested at 1.30am.

"He was taken to the Shah Alam district police station for questioning," he said.

It is unknown as to where he was detained.

Jamal had earlier organised a press conference in KL this afternoon but failed to show up.

His arrest brings the number of people detained to 13, following a police operation yesterday which saw several leaders from both Bersih and the Red Shirts detained.

Among those picked up in the dragnet include Bersih 2.0 chairman Maria Chin Abdullah. Former pro-Opposition student leader Safwan Anang was also among those detained up late last night.
