Sabah NSTP bags 10 prizes at Young Journalists Awards ceremony

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah New Straits Times Press (NSTP) team has won 10 prizes during the Young Journalists Awards ceremony tonight.

Reporter Avila Geraldine bagged the second place in the Feature writing category for English language for her article titled, 'Last of the Momolian' on dying Kadazandusun culture of priestesses.

She took home a certificate and RM1,000 cash prize.

Another journalist Olivia Miwil won fifth place for her piece entitled 'The Sacred Tool That Saved Inarad', bringing home a certificate and RM200.

The Sabah team also made a clean sweep for the photography category, with photographer Malai Rosmah Tuah winning first place for her TYT birthday celebration picture.

She also won third place in the category, while colleagues Mohd Nazllie Zainul (Berita Harian) won second place, Mohd Adam Arinin (NST) fourth place and Erdie Wahid (Harian Metro) fifth place.

For the feature writing in Bahasa Malaysia, Erdie won third place and his HM colleague Norasikin Daineh entries won fourth and fifth places.

Besides the three categories, another category for the inaugural award was Best Documentary (Broadcast).

A total of 47 entries were received for the award, held for the first time by Sabah Information Department and Yayasan Sabah Group.

Yayasan Sabah director cum State Information Exco Datuk Sapawi Ahmad and Information Department director-general Datuk Ibrahim Abdul Rahman presented the awards.
