KUALA LUMPUR: “I am starting a new career.”
This was the simple statement by former Attorney-General (AG) Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail after he was admitted and enrolled as an advocate and solicitor of the High Court of Malaya this morning.
Gani was called to the Bar today after completing his pupillage under lawyer K. Ragunath, a former Malaysian Bar president, who also robed him during the ceremony.
He was among four other fresh law graduates who were called to the Bar today.
Earlier, former Malaysian Bar president Christopher Leong moved Gani's petition before judge Datuk John Louis O'Hara.
Gani was the AG for 13 years, and was removed from his position on July 27 last year following concerns over his health. He was replaced by former Federal Court judge Tan Sri Mohamed Apandi Ali.
