KUALA LUMPUR: Media Prima Berhad’s digital arm, Media Prima Labs (MP Labs), took home six honours at the Mob-Ex Awards 2017, held in Singapore tonight.
Through its mobile games, Ejen Ali MATA Training Academy and Ejen Ali Emergency, MP Labs bagged four gold awards and two bronze awards.
Ejen Ali MATA Training Academy bagged three golds for Best App – Creativity, Best App – Media Owner and Best App – Tablets as well as bronze for Best App – Games & Entertainment, while Ejen Ali Emergency won gold for Best App – Games & Entertainment and bronze for Best App – tablets.
The mobile game Ejen Ali was introduced to the market at the end of March last year and was developed based on the hit animation series, Ejen Ali, co-owned by WAU Animation Studios and Primeworks Studios.
With a total download of more than one million since it was first launched, both Ejen Ali app games tell a story about Ejen Ali, who accidentally became a MATA agent after using Infinity Retinal Intelligent System (IRIS), a device prototype created by MATA.
The action-packed mobile game, available on both iOS and Android platforms, has been receiving fantastic feedback on its interactive features and stellar game design.
This was a great win for MP Labs as they beat other top organisations including telcos and other media owners from this region to emerge as the leading in-house team for the prestigious marketing award.
MP Labs’ Group General Manager, Nicholas Sagau expressed his gratitude to the Malaysian Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) for working hard to champion local game content, as well as Team M8 and Common Extract for helping out in the development of the SEA-IMGA award nominated game.
“We’re very happy for the recognition. Thank you for the overwhelming support. We’re glad that our effort paid off. It’s good to see there is potential in Malaysian-made games and mobile apps.
“This success will definitely encourage us to invest more resources into the mobile app and game industry in Malaysia. Hopefully, this award will be an eye-opener to potential investors out there on the commercial value of the digital industry in Malaysia,” he said.
MP Labs is among the top mobile performers to compete for the ultimate glory in the industry through its overall winning and nominations.
The Mob-Ex Awards is held annually to reward leading organisations that have pushed their limits and achieved success on mobile platforms.
It is one of South East Asia’s premier industry events for companies and organisations, gathering local and regional industry key players.
