Tian Chua praises govt over handling of row with North Korea

KUALA LUMPUR: PKR vice-president Chua Tian Chang today commended the government over its handling of the diplomatic issue with North Korea.

Tian Chua (PKR-Batu) said the government had shown firmness in responding to North Korea which tried to be aggressive against Malaysia.

"I praise the government for being firm in the international issue to defend the pride of the country," he said when debating the motion of thanks on the royal address in Parliament.

Diplomatic ties between Malaysia and North Korea have become tense the past few days over the murder case of Kim Jong-nam, the half-brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.

Malaysia has declared the North Korean ambassador here persona non grata after he made a number of disparaging remarks on the handling of the murder case by the Malaysian police.

North Korea retaliated by prohibiting Malaysian citizens in its country from leaving its borders until the murder case was resolved.
