KUALA LUMPUR: Fourteen teenagers, including students, were among 61 individuals arrested during a raid at a suspected secret society oath-taking ceremony in Salak Selatan, Sungai Besi, earlier today.
The raid, conducted by the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Kuala Lumpur Contingent, and Cheras District Police Headquarters (IPD Cheras), took place at 11am following intelligence gathered about a shop-lot premises in Salak Selatan Baru.
At the time of the raid, 61 individuals were found on the premises, reportedly preparing to recruit new members, including 14 underage teenagers and students aged between 14 and 17.
They were believed to be joining an organisation suspected of being linked to the 360 secret society.
Checks revealed that some of the teenagers were school dropouts, while others were still in school but were allegedly recruited by senior members.
Additionally, 10 elderly individuals aged between 18 and 59, and 37 adult males aged between 18 and 59 from various backgrounds, including those with prior criminal records, were also detained.
The organisation reportedly disguises its secret society activities by naming itself as a registered welfare group with the Registrar of Societies Malaysia (RoS).
A BH investigation found offences that included recruiting underage teenagers, elements of gangsterism, and possessing oath-taking paraphernalia.
All detainees have been taken to the Cheras IPD for further action.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa confirmed the raid and stated that an official statement would be issued soon.
