Man shot dead in Cheras: Police remands 13

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have obtained a seven-day remand for 13 people who were arrested to aid with investigations into the murder of a man in a house at Bandar Tun Hussein Onn, Cheras yesterday.

Selangor police Criminal Investigation Department chief Senior Assistant Commissioner Fadzil Ahmat said those detained, including a businessman, believed to be the main suspect, have been remanded beginning today until Friday to assist in the investigation.

“As of now, police believed all of them are involved in an illegal organisation.

“Police are conducting a thorough investigation on the organisation, including the suspects’ involvement as well as the motive behind the murder,” Fadzil said.

Yesterday, a 39-year-old man was found dead with a gunshot wound to his head in a three-storey house in Cheras.

Initial investigation revealed that the victim, from Jalan Ipoh, and several others had gone to the businessman’s home just after midnight to meet a friend of the businessman.

At about 3am, the businessman had claimed he heard a gunshot coming from the third floor of the house.

He claimed that he had rushed upstairs, only to find the victim sprawled on the floor, with a gunshot wound on his forehead and a gun in his right hand.

The businessman then said he immediately lodged a report at the nearest police station.

Following the report, police rounded up 11 men and two women aged between 30 and 54, including the businessman, his wife and maid, to assist in the probe.

Police also seized the gun and took samples from 11 individuals who were at the scene to test for gunshot residue.
